Indigo Grinds produces Spice blends, Sea Salts, herbs, in self contained grinders and mills from Fremantle Western Australia

About Us

Indigo Grinds of Western Australia are producers of gourmet sea salt crystal, spice, herb n pepper blends.

Through many years of living along the wonderful west coast of Australia the founder of Indigo Grinds thought instead of swimming, surfing, fishing and boating in/on the INDIAN OCEAN maybe we should start eating it also. So Indigo Grinds was concieved. The first thought was to blend this immaculate Australian sea salt with big herb spice flavours, the next thought took some time to conjure about (two minutes) but the decision of GRINDERS was made and Indigo Grinds came to fruition. The first recipe Buddha's Brew took time and wine to conjure and it all flowed out and onto the recipe sheet, with only a minor change to happen. Once this recipe was complete the other's flowed with the same proceedure at play and Indigo Grinds had it's unique flavours it wanted to take to the world. Australia is very cosmopolitan land, so we have a broad flavour range to work with and I must say I did not go for one influence over any other, I took a bit from here and a bit from there and got different flavours many different people can relate to. We use the finest of peppers fron Sarawak and Indonesia, and our choice of sea salt is from the pristine Great Southern Ocean. We have sourced a wonderful wet crystal, that has the flavour of the ocean abound.

The logo is of the COMPASS ROSE, which I feel has a significant role in the history of Western Australia. The spice traders had to navigate in tight & close to the land mass of W.Aust to pick up the trade winds to take them to the Spice Islands. Many poor souls were lost along the coast and captains knew the perils involved in getting their judgements wrong and having to survive the harsh west coast. For most, it was their last stop, but for the lucky, spice and furtune was waiting for them a couple hundred of miles to the north on the "Spice Islands". Austalia was still with out settlers from Europe at this time and the locals were sparce to supply help or sustigence to the weary sailor. Water is a sparce commodity on the West coast and as for food, you had to be a local to know what you were looking at, so the fate of the unlucky sailors was surely doom !!

Indigo Grinds was formed in 2002, with original, simple, honest flavours in mind. We chose four recipes(now eight and growing) that would suit the Australian tastes and found that they are appealling to many differant  tastes over the world. Glass bodied grinders were chosen to highlight the colourful natural flavours inside. The grinders also are all refillable so we don't put to much to the rubbish pile if we can help it. The grinders are very hardy and should be able to be refilled upto five times. Indigo Grinds also believes that quality must be the main reason people will be impressed and hence we only use the finest natural produce available. The idea of the flavours of the grinders was to let the consumer add abundance of flavour to their everyday meals easily and effectively. We have taken the humble old sea salt crystals and pepper and transformed them into wonderfully flavoursome seasoners come toppers.

The original flavours to the market were the enticing"BUDDHA'S BREW", tantalizing"YIN YANG", sensual"FLOWER UP",zingy"CHILLI SEA SALT", & the amazing"FIRESTORM". Our new flavours of CAESAR'S GRIND, TAJ'S BREW & LEONARDO'S BLEND are available now!!!!!!!!! YEAH (finally) & I must say I am very pleased with the result from early sales and comments. The flavours are a natural extension for our range. We hope you love them.

Indigo Grinds Australia now has a sister Co, with the formation of IG International. Mr Griff Hall and Mr Jamie Cullen have formed the International leg. Both Jamie and Griff have excellent business credentials with both of them having past success. Why they chose to become part of Indigo Grinds has mystified me but they are sure they can really get international sales going on a big scale. One good thing is that they love our flavours and designs, they feel we stand out amongst the rest, and taste fantastic, this is true I must say.We wish them all the best of Aussie luck in their new venture "GOOD LUCK FELLA'S"

We at Indigo Grinds hope you become a part of our growing band of fellow grinders.

There is only one thing more to say,

"enjoy"
